792 detained for SOP violations on Tuesday
PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 792 individuals for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.
Among the offences were no social distancing (180), failure to register details when entering premises (135), not wearing face masks (170), cross border travel without permission (102), violation of movement control order (88), ferrying excessive number of passengers (88) and failure to obey orders (9).
Of those arrested on June 1,781 individuals were slapped with a compound and 10 were remanded. One is out on bail.
The SOP compliance task force also checked 71,549 premises on Tuesday (June 1), including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.
Also checked were wet markets or pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 10 illegal immigrants were arrested and seven land vehicles were seized during Ops Benteng.
Enforcement authorities also detected the presence of 173 boats in Malaysian waters during seven sighting activities
He also said 734 people arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday, all of whom were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.
Since July 24 last year, a total of 217,249 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.
